A Nowruz message from anarchist political prisoner Sohail Arabi

I want to cross this turbulent river. I am full of will. Although the courts and rulers want to deprive me and us of the Spring with fences and walls, the Spring can still be felt behind thick walls and Spring can be seen through all the inhumane acts within fascist torture chambers. And it is surprising to me that the sixth spring in the Greater Tehran Prison, which is known as the most torturous prison of the oppressive Islamic regime, it has another colour and smell. More than a year passed and for me it was not just a year, but the victory of honour over submission, the victory of hope over despair with all its harshness and difficulty. I am proud that for another year I have been loyal to my people and myself by keeping my promise. Therefore, with all my sincerity, I extend a happy Nowruz congratulations to the prisoners in Evin, Gohardasht, Qarchak Varamin, Sheiban and anywhere in the world where free people have been enchained. I hope this will be the year of our liberation from the cancer that goes by the name Islamic Republic. I also hope that my dear colleague Arash Sadeghi will overcome his battle with cancer. He has given his life to resistance and is separated from his wife. I hope that this year’s Nowruz is the last the have to celebrate separated from each other. We have nothing to lose but out chains! There so no alternative but to resist and even more resistance! Greetings to the masses and my fellow countrymen, I honour them in their protests and resistances in the face of this terrible dictatorship, and I say again that the key to survival is resistance and to say no to despotism. Where in history do you see a good memory of the criminals who destroyed people’s lives & possessions? History speaks of Jeanne D’Arc, who rebelled against the norms of her time; Spartacus who ridiculed his chains; Sattar Khan who raised the honourable banner of revolution in Amirkhiz; and Bijan Jazani and Mohammad Hanifnejad who ended a time of political repression. We live with pride because of our resistance! And in the Spring, we also struggle for another beginning! Happy Norwuz (1398) to all the people of my homeland
