Serious warning about the health of Esmail Bakhshi and Sepideh Gholian: Families have seen their dire condition at a meeting. According to many reliable news reports, following the short family visits for Ismail Bakhshi and Sepideh Gholian to check in on the status of their children—as well as the legal follow-up of their lawyers—the families found that both of them are severely injured and under under intense physical and psychological pressure. According to reports, Bakhshi and Gholian are in critical physical condition. They do not recognize whether it is day or night, and are still kept in solitary confinement. Gholian is perceptibly emaciated, and when his mother hugged him, his body ached. Ismail’s physical condition is also very serious and there is still bruising on his forehead from beatings. According to news sources, Bakhshi has been in critical physical condition and after hearing the reports of the support for him, he smiled knowing that his suffering and cruel treatment has been disclosed. We are condemning the severe physical and psychological conditions forced on Esmail Balkhshi and Sepideh Gholian, and calling for their immediate and unconditional release. The responsibility for all their suffering, harassment, beatings and conditions lies with the Iranian state. Their security and safety is the responsibility of the of the judicial authorities. We are deeply and increasly concerned about their lives; all the workers from Seven-Hills, Iran and the world, as well as the world’s unions, and media institutions demand immediate, practical and full support for the release of Bakhshi, Gholian and a member of the Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane Worker’s Syndicate, Mr. Ali Nejati.
