Fatwa against Khashayar Mostafavi an Iranian anarchist writer and filmmaker

This isn’t the first fatwa issued by the ruling fundamentalists of Iran

Well-known fatwas , proclaimed in 1989 by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, against Salman Rushdie for “satanic Verses”, is still remembered by the world

In 2012 Shahin Najafi An Iranian rapper has become “the Salman Rushdie of music” after clerics in the Islamic republic issued fatwas, calling him an apostate, which is considered punishable by death under the country’s sharia law

Ayatollah Lotfollah Safi Golpaygani and Ayatollah Naser Makareme Shirazi, two influential clerics with substantial followings, issued the fatwa against Shahin Najafi

Now, the latest fatwa by the ruling clerics, has targeted Khashayar Mostafavi, an Iranian anarchist writer and film maker. It goes without saying that, these barbaric fatwas are against freedom, democracy and free speech. It is also against the universal Human rights charter and as such should not be tolerated by the civilized world and by those who believe in freedom and free speech

Based on the report, published by the “Anarchist era” website, the verdict of the apostasy of Kheshayar Mostafavi, anarchist, filmmaker and writer of the story of “In Hell” was issued by Makarem Shirazi, an influential cleric. According to the verdict, insulting the 12th Shia Imam in the book “In Hell” has led to the issuance of the Fatwa

Biography

In addition to directing several plays in Tehran, He has directed two feature-length political documentaries Our Cherry Orchard and Fight Me, and several other short films

Mostafavi has also written four books Birth of Iranian Drama, To Hell (a collection of short stories) and Sex, Anarchism and Cruelty In Panic Theater of Mr Arrabaland The Days Slowly (Three screenplays). After the publication of his book Birth of Iranian Drama, Mostafavi was accused of insulting Islamic sanctities and had to emigrate from Iran to Germany under the pressure of Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and Security.[1] Mostafavi’s latest feature film, Being There (Dasein), which discuss the problems of immigrants, is in German. Being There screened for the first time at the 20th Shanghai International Film Festival in China
