CAMPAIGN TO FREE REZA SHAHABI AND ALL OF THE POLITICAL AND SOCIAL PRISONERS WITH OUR CLASS STRUGGLE AND PERSISTANCE TO SUCCEED

Based on a report by the Syndicate ofthe Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, in order to prevent the confiscation of the bail money by the prosecutor’s office, Reza Shahabi, a Board Member of the Syndicate, together with a number of members of this Syndicate, his family and friends, presented himself to the RajaeeShahr Prison, on Tuesday, 8^th of August, 2017, at 6:20 P.M, and eventually, he was imprisoned in The RajaeeShahr Prison, on 9^th of August, 2017

In another statement, the Syndicate says; despite the fact that medical leave for this righteous labour prisoneris counted as part of the prison sentence, but the prosecutor’s office ignores the five months’ medical leave, which has been approved prior, by the coroner’s office. In addition, whilst serving prison, with the re-filing of another case, the court has sentenced Shahabi to another one-year imprisonment, which will be executed immediately, after the end of the previous conviction, therefore, Shahabi must stay for 17 months more in jail and up to 22nd December, 2018

Reza Shahabi, was arrested by the security forces on 22 May, 2010. After enduring 19 months of physical and psychological torture, in solitary confinement, in ward 209 of Evin notorious prison,he was sentenced by Branch 15 of The Revolutionary Court, to six years’ imprisonment and fined seven and half million Toomaan (almost $US2000.00), and deprived ofattempts to organize labour activities

This labour activist, because of torturing by security forces, during his arrest and subsequent investigations, received serious injuries to his neck and back, but the judicial authorities disagreed with his treatment outside of prison, until he was forced to go on3 hunger strikes, where he was transferred to hospital, due to his physical deterioration

This Board Member ofThe Syndicate of workers; went undertwo operations, in the neck and back, and by the confirmation of the coroner’s authority, he went on medical leave for his treatment

The Syndicate of Workers of Tehran and Suburbs Bus Company, condemns the re-imprisonment of Reza Shahabi, and calls for his unconditional release,and all of the imprisoned workers and teachers, and the abolition of prison sentences of Ibrahim Madadi and DavoudRazavi, another two members of the Syndicate, both of whom, have been sentenced to 5 years’ imprisonment

In such a situation, the pressure on labour activistshas been increased constantly. For ShahpourEhsani Rad, the medieval custom of whipping has been handed down. The imprisoned teachers; Mohsen Omrani, andIsmail Abdi, who are in jail, are in horrible, unsavoury conditions. Mahmoud BeheshtiLangroudi also at any moment may be returned to prison, in addition, Mahmoud Salehi, TaherGhaderzadeh, Reza Moslemi, and several others have jail sentences in their files as well

We, the undersigned signatories of this statement, as organizations and labour groups, are calling for the immediate and unconditional release of labour activists, imprisoned teachers and the abolition of inhuman sentences, against activists and political and social prisoners

 The ultimate realization of this political and social action solely lies on the unity of labour’s movement and their allies, and all of the freedom fighters, egalitarians, justice seekers, and anti- discrimination and anti – exploitation forces. This is in order to, as a united front and unequivocally,rally against the Islamic Regime of Iran, and insists as follows

End the crackdown and censorship, imprisonment and execution, poverty and misery and exploitation

We wish a free and equal world for everyone and for the fulfilment of our aspirations we will struggle continuously
